DAY 1: Maras Moray and Salt mines tour half day
To start the Maras, Moray and Chinchero tour, we will pick you up at your hotel at 8:30 am. Later we will continue our tour to Moray (3,450m). Moray is the center of agricultural experimentation with spectacular terraces formed by the Incas. Every level of Moray has different microclimates where one can grow different types of plants. After our time in Moray, we will visit the village of Maras. Here we will observe the famous salt mines and the salt extraction process used for hundreds of years by the community.
Finally, we will begin our trip back to Cusco, but first we will stop in the village of Chinchero. Here we will observe the entire process of creating Inca textiles-from washing the wool, to spinning the wool, to dying the wool to weaving the wool to creating amazing, colorful products with the camelite wool. In Chinchero we will also visit the famous colonial church and the pre-hispanic agricultural terraces. Our Moray, Maras and Chinchero tour ends back in Cusco at approximately 2:30 pm.
